While camping gear can be quite expensive, having a few basics on hand is helpful. This is especially important for those who are first-timers and might not be familiar with modern conveniences. First, a camping fridge can keep food fresh so you don't have to worry about what you'll eat. You can also get a smaller icebox that will keep you cool on hot nights.

A mummy sleeping bag can keep you warm, even in the coldest weather. These bags are equipped with a hood at its top. For shorter trips, or for overnight camping adventures, you can choose between a smaller and larger bag. They are very affordable and keep you warm even under extreme conditions. They're great for solo adventurers. However, they are not suitable for heavier campers.

Coleman offers a variety of affordable sleeping bags. They are available in two sizes. They are rectangular and filled with polyester lining. They are heavy and bulky, so they will not fit into most car trunks. Coleman Kids Sleeping bag is a lighter option. The bag weighs in at 2.2 pounds and comes equipped with a stuff bag. It does have some flaws, including broken zippers and ripped seams.

Another important item is a tent. These tents are available in many styles and can be bought at most camping supply stores. They can be used to accommodate two to six adults and some tents are even suitable for car camping. They're easy to set up and pack up, and they're often priced quite low. Walmart carries an all-season tent. These aren't made for cold-weather camping, but they aren't expensive and they get good reviews from consumers. These are also easy to assemble.

For beginners, a tent specifically designed for solo camping is a good choice. You can get an all-season tent at Walmart, or you can opt for one that's geared towards car camping. These tents can be purchased at many camping stores, but aren't always cheap. For example, some of them cost ten dollars or more for the bells and whistles.

A few owners have reported issues with the fabric of their tents after a few seasons of use. Some owners have reported that their tents have torn or jammed the seams. The stuff sack also doesn't compress sufficiently. Leakage is a major problem, especially in rainstorms. Optionally, you can buy a footprint for your tent base to stop it from leaking.

Tepui's Baja Series tent is one the most well-received on the market. The tent gets good reviews from professionals, but it has some issues. Its walls are mostly made from mesh and it does not seem to be designed for cold-weather camp. It does however come with pre-attached trekking poles.

It isn't the best choice to camp in colder weather, but it is solid for hot-weather camping. Although the Teton Sports Tracker is an excellent choice for car camping, it does not have the same comfort rating as some other bags.
