Texas offers a wide variety of camping options. There are many options for camping in Texas, including state parks and campgrounds. The state has many ecoregions. Its landscape includes plains, prairies, mountains, marshes, and plains. Whether you want to camp by a river or by the ocean, you can find a place to stay that suits your needs.
Texas is home to free camping. This can make it a great place to go on a trip and explore the great outdoors. Numerous state parks and national parks in Texas offer campsites for free. Texas Hill Country has some of Texas' best camping areas. No matter if you are a campervanner or RVer, the Texas Hill Country offers a multitude of stunning campgrounds. Many of these sites are hidden along side Highway 204A. They are located close to the beach or along the waterfront, and offer modern, clean bathrooms.
The Davy Crockett National Forest has four areas where you can find the best Texas camping spots. The Davy Crockett Ranger District has a mix of hardwood and coniferous forests. It is located in the Caddo – Lyndon B. Johnson National Grasslands.
Eight areas of public use are provided by the Brazos river Authority. Each one has a 24-hour parking area and restrooms. There are several places to have a picnic. The Bug Beach - Brazos River Public Use Area #5 has 6-15 Texas campsites. There is also a swim area. The area is secured. It offers drinking water, toilets and a dump.
You can also head to Point of Rocks Picnic Area. The park offers a stunning view of the surrounding areas and night sky. The Picnic Area remains open all hours. You can also find a playground there and an electric hookup. It is also a quiet and well-lit spot to stop.
Despite the fact most of the state isn't available for camping there are still places where you can pull over and park your vehicle. These spots are generally found in rural areas and are great for camping. Those who are interested in exploring the Texas Hill Country can also check out Bastrop State Park, which is about 25 miles outside of Austin. It has six RV spots, a fire ring, and picnic tables.
